I am Dave Wallace and I live in a small community on the outskirts of Greenville, SC. I started my first rod in 1999 under the tutelage of Jeff Wilkes, the founder of Hazel Creek Rods. I have been flyfishing for 30 years and built this first rod at the encouragement of my son. I have given lots of rods to family, friends and charity and sell a few and give classes to cover my expenses. I will finish my seventh rod of the year next week. I have played with tapers somewhat but generally stay close to established tapers. About as far as I go to the edge of the envelope is hollow building. At age 71 you guys have taught this old dog lots of new tricks. Now if I could remember them. You guys are remarkable in sharing information at this level and I for one am most appreciative. I sign all my rods with my name and the name of my only grandson plus his dates of birth and death. He was killed accidentally at age 13 by gunshot. Two kids playing with a hunting rifle. My rods are made in his honor. If you haven't placed trigger locks on your weapons, please do it today. Do it today.
