I've been using Acetone to clean out the ferrules prior to mounting.  I understand there may be something better to use.  I've seen Tri-Chlorathane mentioned but it's not something available, or should I say, something I can't find.

Is there a product that anyone uses that works better than acetone?

Is there something out there that contains Tri-Chlor as part of the chemical make up that works for this purpose?.   (Tim ??)

Darrol Groth put me on plain old carburetor cleaner. I also use good old concentrated dish soap. Dish soap is one of the best degreasers, that is what it was designed to do -- take off fats and oils from dishes. It can also ruin the paint job on your car, that is how good dish soap is.  (Scott Bearden)

I've been using Sticky Jack to attach the ferrules and had a failure today on a just completed rod.  I can reattach the ferrule and re wrap, etc., but do I need to apply something to the inside of the ferrule and the bamboo to remove the sticky jack residue.  I plan to reattach using u40 rod bond.  Any suggestions? (Michael Allen)

I use lacquer thinner and a cotton swab to clean out any of the manufacturing grime and crud from inside the ferrules before glueing. I'm surprised at how oily and dirty the insides of the ferrules can be. I then use Golfsmith shafting epoxy to glue the blank and ferrule together. I also use U40 Rod Bond but only for gluing the cork grips to the blank. I like the way it fills the voids between the apexes and the cork.  (Mike Arnold)
