I was wondering if anybody on the list has ever used Perma Gloss to finish their rods with instead of varnish.
I put some on a piece of spare rod blank and have to say I was pretty impressed with the results. One coat was what I laid on it and it gives a nice even finish that was no more than about .001” thick.
I’m sure it would work but would like some feedback on the idea. (Ren Monllor)
Personally have used it brushed on and did spend the $ to fill a dip tube and dipped one rod as well. For the sake of speed it is a decent finish and I found the same very very thin characteristics that you did but overall was not as happy with it as I would have liked. Polishing out imperfections is REALLY difficult to. The fact that it takes almost no air to cure it doesn't lend itself to tube storage either... Overall I thought it was OK but not worth the trouble although definitely a very durable finish. Hope this helps - let me know how it works for you. (Rob Smith)
