Glues - Creep

I found very little in the archives and was curious as to anyone's opinion regarding glue creep.  Which glues are the least likely to allow splines to creep over time?  (Rob Smith)

Speaking strictly in terms of creep, the champ might very well be hide glue.  (Larry Blan)

I would have to agree with Larry.

Creep with hide glue is so close to zero, even over hundreds of years under stress, that it doesn't matter.

Also allows for almost any amount of heating and adjustment, with the ability to regain full bond strength after being heat-softened.

Has some other characteristics, though, that are not so very desirable.  (Peter McKean)

    Resorcinol (according to Mike Brooks)

....if only someone could change the colour of resorcinol there would be no need for any further debate about which is the best 'glue' for gluing up blanks.  (Stephen Dugmore)

URAC may be the closest thing to resorcinol.  (Steve Weiss)
