Has anyone any ideas as to how those wonderful cork covered sliding band reel fittings as typified on the HJ Schlecht Bamboo Ferruled Rods are produced?  (Paul Blakley)

Turn the sliding band in the lathe to the desired dimensions than glue cork to it. After the glue is hardened turn it again in the lathe an bring it, with Sandpaper, to the shape you like and cut off. Use a very high speed to do that an be very careful.  (Rainer Jagusch)
