I am working on a bamboo spinning rod for a nephew. He has shown on interest in fishing but I think is a little young for fly fishing. He has a birthday this April.

I need advice on a company where I can purchase components for a spinning rod.

I found a company online - acidrod.com. I called them for some advice and they were helpful on the phone and had a lot of choices on their website. I placed an order for guides and a handle about 6 weeks ago. They received payment through Paypal but I have yet to receive anything. My phone calls and emails have not helped.

I have a deadline coming up to finish this rod. Needless to say, even if I get somewhere with acidrod, I will not order from them in the future.

Has anyone found a good source for supplies? (Guy Silva)

Mudhole or Jahns Netcraft.  (Wayne Blake-Hedges)

Angler's Workshop, Jann's Netcraft, and Mudhole. I prefer the first two, Mudhole can be kind of slow on back orders and shipping.

A quick internet review search of Acidrods turned up a lot of negatives. Actually, just the name of this company turns me off. I know it probably shouldn't, but it just sounds too gimmicky to me.  (Tom Vagell)

Also http://donartrods.com/ is good too. I have used them a few times. (Ken Paterson)
